One is hard pressed to argue against COD4’s solid control layout and air tight physics engine, not to mention the very balanced unlock-able perks, an almost infinite amount of guns, customization and leveling. The formula is so well rounded that even a tired game genre like WW2 can flourish under it’s umbrella.
The release of COD: World at War was a major disappointment, but not as game, as a concept. Few want to play another WW2 game no matter what developer is making it. The fact that such a played out genre can be so successful despite this only goes to further show the success of such a well made design.
Thus my excitement for the new Modern Warfare edition of the Call of Duty series.

Apparently a COD: Modern Warfare 2 trailer was played at the 9th annual Game Developers Choice Awards’ conclusion, however the full trailer can be viewed at the game’s website listed below. Make sure to click the “analyze” option to dissect the video a bit further.
For now, COD:MW2 remains shrouded in secrecy which has spawned a great deal of speculation. IGN’s Hilary Goldstein suggests that access to a form of in-game LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) or sonar might be the reason for the teaser’s theme, but goes on to admit that, “it could just be a stylized trailer.” Either way COD6 (as I like to call it) will be one of the biggest releases of the year.
