WiiSpray - Not Yet Nintendo, Why Not?

The demo shown below gives us a first look at the new WiiSpray experiment with a can-shaped controller. Granted, it would have been nice to see some experienced graffiti artists demonstrating the application..but this will have to do for now. More info below the video…

Quick look:

Martin Lihs and Frank Matuse put together the first prototype which formed the basis of WiiSpray. “WiiSpray 2nd edition” is Martin Lihs’ Master Thesis, a completely new interface from the original WiiSpray technical experiment that began back in Spring of 2007 at the Bauhaus University Media Department. Additionally, a new version with the ability to allow artists to collaborate on the same piece of work is in Beta Testing.

The hardware tool is an actual spray can-shaped control allowing for changeable caps, a full spectrum of colors to choose from as well as the ability to use your own photos and graphics stencils (as seen in the video above).

Despite the name, WiiSpray is without a set platform. Currently it is based in Adobe Flash, a WiiSpray Server and a WiiFlash Server using basic Wii Technology.

Whether or not the Nintendo Corporation will look into developing this experiment into a full product is yet to be seen. As of now the possibilities are endless.
